ALLP is a boutique Family & General Law practice which combines expertise with personalised service.
The firm’s founding partner Amy Lim has a special interest in Family Law, particularly in helping women in disadvantaged or abusive relationships obtain a fair outcome in their divorce proceedings. She draws on her own life experience which has given her a unique insight into this practice area. Family Law matters are often challenging, emotionally charged and stressful. Every case is different and ALLP’s philosophy is to listen and understand the unique circumstances and issues and to fully appreciate the needs, concerns and expectations of our Clients.
Our professional advice will map out a strategy that is aligned with you and your loved one’s best interests thereby allowing you to efficiently transition to your new life whilst obtaining the best overall outcome for you and your family.
Delivering compassionate expertise and personalised service is the cornerstone of our practice. We are on your side and will as your “trusted advisor” have the integrity to tell you how it is. We give you our professional assurance that we will not waste your time or, your money.
The Court system promotes a mediatory approach to Family Law matters and whilst ALLP’s approach is in harmony with this we also recognise that not every case can be resolved without a hearing. Hearings/trials can be stressful and emotional and we consider it part of our responsibility to guide and support you through the process. We will explain the procedures to you, the issues and keep you fully updated and always acting in your best interests.
ALLP recognises that your emotional well-being is hugely important and to this end we also have a team of experienced professional counsellors whom we can connect you with to assist you through this difficult period.
What are the conditions to apply for divorce?
Does the law state what percentage the husband must pay the wife as maintenance?
In a divorce, does the law state who should get what percentage of the matrimonial assets? Aren't the assets usually divided equally between the parties?
What is "care and control" and custody?
Accidental lawyer, proud mother of 3 and divorce survivor.
Amy decided to start her own firm in order to pursue her interest in Family Law. She brings to the table a unique perspective, having survived an acrimonious and protracted divorce which was eventually finalised after 7 years. Throughout all that, she has managed to retain her sanity, sense of humour and faith in the justice system.
Amy obtained her Law Degree in 2003 from NUS after giving up her childhood dream of striking the lottery and travelling the world. Her practice in the past 15 years has been mainly in litigation, though she is also a strong advocate of mediation. She is an accredited family mediator and is trained in mediating cross-border family disputes. She likes to think she is a competent lawyer with a heart (yes, they exist!). In this regard, she also finds time to take on work for the Legal Aid Bureau.
Outside work, Amy is happily married and stays busy being a wannabe Tiger Mom to her 3 children.
